Market Replay, a feature available on cTrader Windows, takes market history and turns it into a practice ground. Traders can rewind to how the market actually moved, see how they'd react to different scenarios and run their strategy through it, without real money on the line. It's a space built purely for sharpening trading skills.

Practice under historical market conditions

Getting started is simple: a trader picks a historical date and time, sets a virtual starting balance and chooses a playback speed. Replays can run on minute open-price data or drill down to historical tick data, depending on how much detail is needed.

From there, it works just like live trading. Orders are placed and managed through the same cTrader functions used every day, and the technical analysis tools are all on hand to test how a strategy holds up across different conditions. Since the pace of the replay is fully adjustable, traders can slow down at important moments and skip through the quieter stretches, adding timestamps along the way to flag key moments and return to them later.

Reviewing every session

The Trade Watch display in the Market Replay window brings together Positions, Orders and History tabs, along with Equity and Trade Statistics tabs, giving a full picture of how a session played out.

Traders can track how their equity moved through the session, break down their wins and losses and compare how different approaches performed. The Timeline ties orders and saved markers together, so a decision can be matched to the exact market conditions it was made in. Timestamps can also be exported and imported, making it possible to rerun a specific scenario.

“cTrader isn’t built only for experienced market participants – it’s just as much for people who are starting out or still building their experience,” said Sergey Borisov, Product Manager at Spotware. “Trading skills develop through practice, repetition and learning from each decision. That’s what Market Replay is for: a safe space to try different approaches without fear of losing real money and gradually improve decision-making. With every product decision, we continue turning traders’ needs into tools that help them progress – in line with our Traders First™ approach.”

Whether preparing for a first trade, testing a manual strategy or reviewing a difficult session, traders can work through real historical scenarios at their own pace, using the cTrader tools they already know. That makes Market Replay can also be used as the basis for workshops, market reviews and strategy demonstrations. Overall, it gives traders another reason to explore the platform's tools and build confidence before trading live.
